Everyone's in — the itinerary and the bill
Most tools make you pick one: plan the trip in one app, split the bill in another. Here, you don't.
Bring in whoever's coming
Invite people to the trip — or to a standalone expense group that isn't tied to a trip at all. Give each person the access that actually makes sense: viewer, contributor, editor, or owner on the itinerary; member or admin on the money. Nobody has to hand over the keys to the whole trip just to let someone add their own flight.
The part that's usually a second app
Log an expense in whatever currency you actually paid in — the historical exchange rate gets locked in at that moment, so nobody argues about conversion three months later. Split it evenly, by percentage, or by exact amounts. Balances are never a stored number quietly drifting out of sync — they're recalculated fresh from the ledger every time you look. When money actually changes hands, record a settlement and it's cleared.
Why this is one app, not two
TripIt will tell you when your flight is. Splitwise will tell you what you owe. Neither one will tell you both at once — that the €340 you're splitting with Maria was for the hotel you booked together, on the trip you're both actually on right now. That link, between what happened and what it cost, is the entire reason this exists.
A few conveniences that add up
A category breakdown (flights, accommodation, food & drink, transport, activities, shopping) so you can see where the money actually went, not just the total. Standalone expense groups for the stuff that isn't a whole trip — a weekly dinner group, a shared household, whatever needs splitting. And every trip quietly gets a cover photo picked for it automatically, so your dashboard doesn't look like a spreadsheet.
